I’m planning on moving to LA soon and was wondering if there were nice places to live in outskirts of LA..that are resonably price, yet not ghetto or run down.

We see this every day in this forum: Everyone hears about the great weather in SoCal or believes they are the next great actor/model/singer, then starts looking for the "cheap, clean, and safe". It’s all about supply and demand: If it’s in SoCal, then it’s not going to be cheap to begin with. If it’s clean and safe, then it’s more expensive. If you need good schools, add a couple hundred bucks a month on top of it.

If you want to live here and enjoy the weather, then you have to pay for it. You put up with the smog and the traffic, enjoy the weather and pay your rent or mortgage. My advice is to start checking out craigslist, rent.com, and apartments.com if you are looking to rent. You’ll quickly see that the minimum rent for a non-war zone is about $1,000-$1,200 per month for a studio or 1BR. Really nice areas (like the West LA area) easily run $3,000 or more. Want to live near the beach? Expect to pay a premium.

"LA" is such a big place, there are so many neighborhoods/cities where you can live. Of course, even within a city or neighborhood, there are safer sections and less-safe sections.
In Los Angeles, some nice sections are West LA, Brentwood, Westwood, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Los Feliz, Silverlake, Eagle Rock, Encino, Tarzana, Studio City, Toluca Lake, Granada Hills, Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks, West Hills, Chatsworth.

To the east: South Pasadena, parts of Pasadena, Altadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Glendora, San Dimas, Laverne, Azusa, Rancho Cucamonga.

Along the beach: Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes, Rancho PV.

In Orange County aka "The OC": Seal Beach , Huntington Beach , Newport Beach , Corona Del Mar , Laguna Beach , Dana Point , Capistrano Beach , San Clemente , Brea, Yorba Linda, Orange, Tustin, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Rancho Santa Margarita, Lake Forest

To the west: Agoura, Calabasas, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Simi Valley, Moorpark.

This is not an all-inclusive list, but it’s a start.

I want to live in a city that has a low crime rate, good malls and good places to have fun, friendly people, a city that isn’t polluted and nasty, a city that is just basically excellent.

Well these are my options:
Jeddah
Makkah
Madinah
Taif
Riyadh
Al Khobar/ Ad Dammam

Please advise me which is the best city to live in, from what I have mentioned…

Tell me which city and WHY!

…..Jeddah or Al Khobar/ Ad Dammam because you have small freedom….

I don’t want to live in or around Oklahoma. I like big cities but I don’t want to live right in the city. I have three small kids and I want good schools and safe places where they can play.
I want to persue my career in the casino business, thats what I do in Oklahoma.I also want to return to school also.
So, if anyone has any ideas let me know.

Do you want to move out of State? You could move to Spokane , Washington. Casino, college, good schools for kids. Good Luck! DONT LIVE IN THE CITY! beware. lol Go on the outskirts.

Hello, I’ll be moving to vancouver for school, and I’m wondering what are the best places to live in Vancouver? My school is downtown (near gastown)… so I’d prefer something closer than a 45 ride from North Van.

Any tips? Also any good sites in mind other than craigslist or kijiji.

Thanks!

o man gastown/downtown is expensive becausee its nice like the cheapest apartments that are nice in that area are $1500/monthly but some of them include alot of things so you have to look around and not pick the first one you see
but stay away from EAST HASTINGS while not every one there is bad i don’t think you don’t want to be living around crack addicts/homeless people 24/7 and only a few blocks separate gastown and that area so be carefull
well haev fun in vancouver its a amazing city

Here are instructions

1. Go to http://174.133.240.117/
2. Search: the enemy (no cap letters)
3. Then go back to http://174.133.240.117/
4. Search alfa-tsentr (also case sensitive) and the video should come up.

Do not move your mouse or type anything or the video will stop and redirect you to facebook page about The Junsui. As far as I know, this is an ARG(Alternate Reality Game) but I can’t say that for sure, you’ll have to make your own decision.

Was it live video feed or not, enjoy and brix.

*EDIT 20/08/2009*
Due to request from a lot of people wanting to know what this is all about, I’ll provide links to pages and sites where a lot of good information is gathered.

I am sorry I can’t be more help myself, but the truth is that I myself have a very little knowledge about this, and don’t know much more than this is propably an ARG(Alternate Reality Game), but even that seems uncertain.

So if you want to find out what this might be, then here are the sites that you should visit.

OK - so global warming is happening (either man-made or not). Where will the BEST and WORST places to live in the world in 50, 100, 200 and 500 years?

Also - if you know anything about the British Isles (UK and Ireland) some information about where the flooding is least and most likely to happen would be good.

Scottish Highlands maybe? Could be wet though.

Avoid low lying areas in London and the South East and if you choose higher areas in this region prepare for the risk you might be living on an island!

Coastal areas are a risk, particularly the fens, Cornwall and Devon. Also stay away from rivers generally.

The BBC have some great resources that should tell you a lot of what you need to know (including videos and maps):
